Local Offer
Blackfriars Academy is a secondary age (11-16) generic special school located in Newcastle under Lyme. The Academy serves families primarily from North Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.
Blackfriars Academy offer three tailored pathways to support every student’s learning journey.
The Immersive Pathway is designed for students who benefit from multi-sensory, structured experiences that encourage engagement, interaction, and communication development.
The Exploratory Pathway provides a balanced curriculum combining diverse subjects and therapy sessions, focused on building early literacy, numeracy, social skills, and confidence, with opportunities for external accreditation.
The Questioning Pathway centres on self-discovery and inclusiveness, helping students develop confidence through curiosity, critical thinking, and greater self-awareness.

Enabling each student to achieve their full potential by providing a challenging, self- motivating and encouraging broad and balanced curriculum that is continuously, thoroughly and systematically assessed encompassing the National Curriculum and external accreditation but tailored to the individual needs of each student.
Creating a caring environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and each individual valued for their own unique talents.
